How to Cook:

Bajra Khichidi:
Ingredients:
1 cup bajra (pearl millet)
1 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)
2 cups water
1 tablespoon ghee or oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
Salt, to taste
Optional: vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and peas
Instructions:
Rinse the bajra and dal together and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
Drain the water and add 2 cups of fresh water to the bajra-dal mixture.
Add ghee or oil, onion, garlic, and ginger to the mixture.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the bajra and dal are cooked and mushy.
Add salt and any desired vegetables to the khichidi.
Serve hot with a dollop of ghee and some papad or pickle, if desired.
This recipe makes 2-3 servings and can be easily doubled or tripled to feed a larger crowd. You can also customize the recipe by adding your favorite vegetables or spices. Enjoy! Porridge, cakes, desserts, idli, dosa, bhakri, dumplings, flat bread, salads, crepe, cookies etc. Bhajra Khichda is a traditional baby food.
